Kumah Akua Portia is the founder and CEO of N.H. Natural Foods Supplies Ltd (Nimdee Hyeren Foods), a Ghana-based cashew nut processing company dedicated to creating sustainable jobs and adding value within the local cashew industry.

A trained educator with a background in Mathematics and ICT from St. Joseph College of Education, Portia brings a unique blend of technical knowledge and community-driven leadership to the agribusiness sector. Her passion lies in female empowerment, environmental sustainability, and innovative agricultural solutions that uplift rural communities.

Portia has held several leadership roles during her academic career and is an alumna of the USA Peace Corps’ Women Ruling Our World program. She is also a graduate of the Master Training Program by the African Cashew Alliance (ACA) and GIZ/ComCashew, which deepened her expertise in the cashew value chain.

Driven by a vision to reduce waste and improve rural livelihoods, Portia is pioneering efforts to transform discarded cashew apples into valuable products such as biofuel and animal feed. She has also launched a briquette production initiative that converts agricultural waste into clean energy, providing income opportunities for rural women and youth while helping curb rural-urban migration.

In her free time, she enjoys drawing, reading, and volunteering. Through her work, Portia remains committed to empowering women and girls to become independent, confident, and impactful contributors to their communities.
